Indonesian Military
(TNI) commander Admiral Agus Suhartono gave assurances that his successor would
not be the chief of staff at Indonesian Navy.
Agus said in Medan,
North Sumatra, on Friday that the decision to determine his successor was
based on a rotation system, in which the next term of leadership would be given
to executives from the other two TNI forces.
"The candidates
to be my successor are the chiefs of staff at the Indonesian Army [TNI AD] and
the Indonesian Air Force [TNI AU]," he said after the inauguration of a
joint exercise between the TNI and the Malaysian military.
President Susilo
Bambang Yudhoyono previously announced he would make new appointments at the
top of the TNI and National Police as the leaders of both institutions would
retire soon.
The current Army
chief of staff is Gen. Moeldoko, who recently replaced Gen. Pramono Edhie
Wibowo, who retired. The current Air Force chief of staff is Air Chief Marshall
Ida Bagus Putu Dunia.
